Last weekend BellaPelle staff and skin care specialists, along with other participants underwent CPR Training. January 9 through 11 and May 8 through 10, 2011 BellaPelle Skin Studio will be hosting Mórag Currin Method Oncology Esthetics™ Training courses. BellaPelle is very excited about the new training our skin care specialists will be receiving and we invite other Bay Area estheticians to register and join us for the class!

The 3-day training is for skin care professionals who want to learn specialized techniques in Oncology Esthetics. An oncology RN and licensed esthetician instructor trained in the Mórag Currin Method of Oncology Esthetics™ will educate the estheticians at BellaPelle Skin Studio on Maiden Lane in San Francisco.

Participants will learn about the special skin care needs and challenges of individuals living with cancer and how to perform safe skin and beauty treatments for these individuals. The course includes live and video demonstrations, and students have the opportunity to meet and work with cancer survivors who are present during the training. Certificates are personally signed by Mórag Currin, the facilitating oncology RN, and the licensed esthetic instructor.

Estheticians might be interested in taking this course if they:

• Have been touched by cancer directly or indirectly and want a more in-depth understanding of cancer, cancer therapies and their side effects.
• Are looking for a new modality to specialize in to attract new clients for their services.
• Want to enhance their knowledge to be part of the new developing trend that combines medical-wellness-spa modalities.

Thanks to the Levi’s Pop Up store in San Francisco's Mission district, BellaPelle Beauties are now sporting our very own t-shirts! 

I was strolling through the Mission with a girlfriend, when we saw this really cool storefront with lots of people going in and out. It took a while to figure out what was going on but, the Levi’s crew welcomed us in and gave us the low-down.

Essentially, Levi’s developed a ‘pop-up’ store with the community and was encouraging anyone and everyone to feel free to design and create whatever they wanted! For free!

So, I carefully followed the instructions that they gave me and showed up the following weekend with my BellaPelle logo graphics and t-shirts in tow.

Our fabulous new friends at Levi’s taught us how to silk screen with a two color ink process. It was so much fun and very helpful for a small business owner like myself. I’ve always wanted to have t-shirts with our logo on them but kept putting it off due to the expense.

Thank you Levi’s for giving us the gift of a memorable community experience where we learned something new and have special t’s that we can wear for years!

Lately, we've been very busy with outside education and wading through conference halls and exhibits learning about new trends and approaches within the beauty industry. Currently, we're studying the effects of aging on the face and body, sun exposure and testing a cellulite treatment! The cellulite treatment is very interesting, but not available right now. We'll keep you posted if we decide it's a good product and service to offer our clients!

As part of our constant pursuit to keep educated on skin care trends and approaches, we do a lot of testing of new products and even take before and after pictures to make sure products and treatments really produce results (but won't be sharing those photos!)

Quite often, we schedule out time to sit together and hit the books. We review chapters in our text books on physiology and chemistry to keep a very clear picture of what our goals are as Estheticians. We want to lead the way in bridging the gap between estheticians and doctors so, that we can rely on each other's expertise. We have a selection of docs that we follow around the country (we're like skin care groupies!) listening for nuggets and collecting bits of information to constantly improve our techniques and stay absolutely current.

All of this is done out of passion for the industry and to bring you the best possible care and attention for your skin.

Well, we don't think of ourselves as a traditional spa, but not sure we're the "anti-spa." But we do work very hard to ensure the studio projects a lively atmosphere, has lovely aromatic scents with hip music playing in the background, is casual and comfortable and most importantly, is not at all intimidating—we don't want our clients to feel that they can't touch things or that they can't talk with us.

Being a downtown location, we have so many busy, business professionals, both men and woman, who come in during their work day. They want to come in and take a few minutes to relax while they get their treatments, but they can't fall asleep because they still need to get back to work. Some people want to tune out the world with their headphones on, but some people love to chat with their skin care specialist or listen in on a conference call!

Summertime always brings great outdoor activities. Here in San Francisco we have the most wonderful street fairs. There are 5 or 6 of them that draw very large crowds and this past weekend was the first of the year—Union Street Festival.
